Why this project exists
RV Genie started as a practical solution to a real workflow challenge with the Boss RV-500.
When working on tracks, I often had to pause and calculate effect timing manually, or jump between websites and tempo tools, just to match the song’s BPM and style. That process took time, interrupted creativity, and still didn’t always produce consistent results.
The core idea
I built RV Genie around a simple concept:
If I already know the BPM and the vibe of a song, I should be able to reach a strong starting point immediately.
With RV Genie, I can quickly generate a usable preset for recording or live performance, and then fine-tune it as needed for the specific part.

- Better consistency across tracks
- Less menu-diving and technical friction
- A clear starting point already defined on the pedal
Independent project
RV Genie is an independent initiative and is not affiliated with any company.
After seeing how much it improved my own RV-500 workflow, I decided to share it with other guitarists, producers, and musicians who use the RV-500. The goal is simple: spend less time programming and more time making music.
Availability
At this stage, RV Genie is available for Windows and macOS. Both versions are free to download from this website after a short signup.
