Installation Guide

Prerequisites

  • Ensure your RV-500 is recognized by your operating system.
  • On Windows, install the official BOSS USB driver if required.
  • On macOS, CoreMIDI is usually sufficient (a separate driver is typically not required).
  • Recommended: update your Boss RV-500 to the latest official firmware before first use.

Welcome to RV Genie Beta

RV Genie helps you generate practical reverb/delay presets for the Boss RV-500 in seconds.


Beta Status

RV Genie is currently in beta.

  • Windows: tested and working for live write in SIMUL workflow.
  • macOS: build is available, but live write behavior is still community-tested / not fully hardware-verified.

If you use macOS, please treat Live Write as experimental for now.


Important (Current Limitation)

At this stage, RV Genie supports live writing in SIMUL-compatible workflow only.
Before writing to your pedal, make sure your RV-500 is in the correct SIMUL-compatible setup.


Recommended Before First Use

  • Back up your RV-500 presets/settings.
  • Update your RV-500 firmware to the latest version (recommended).
  • Start with Simulation Mode first.

Windows Install Steps

  1. Download RV Genie from the Download page.
  2. Run the MSI setup file and follow the wizard.
  3. Choose install location (default is recommended).
  4. Launch RV Genie from the Start Menu, or from the Desktop shortcut if selected.

First Run Checklist

  1. Connect RV-500 via USB.
  2. Open RV Genie.
  3. Choose BPM, Vibe, Role, and Bank.
  4. Run Simulation first.
  5. Switch to Live Mode only when your pedal is in SIMUL-compatible setup.
